For 20 years, the staff at Mountain Horse has focused on every detail in engineering superior apparel and footwear and to bringing these products to riders around the globe. Mountain Horse is a Swedish company, exclusively designing and manufacturing high-quality equestrian wear. They are world-renowned for their use of innovative design technology and superior fabric selection as required by customers looking for practicality and style.

Mountain Horse is a family business. The main office is located in Vallda, Sweden, just south of Gothenburg. To explain the MH company history, we have to begin with the man who started it all. Lars Sjosward, founder and cultural leader, has been the brand driver and product visionary throughout the company's history. His passion for horses and riding life in general, combined with his entrepreneurial business skill and experience in the Far East, laid the groundwork for the immediate success of Mountain Horse. Lars' daughter, Catherina began riding at a young age and found the freezing cold temperatures of the harsh Swedish winters very unforgiving. Her tiny toes were constantly cold -- she and Lars set out to develop a winter riding boot that would stand up to the coldest weather conditions. The original Mountain Horse Winter Rider Boot was developed in 1988 to keep Catherina's toes warm in all types of cold winter conditions. Thus, the first product by Mountain Horse was born. Together, Lars and Catherina continued to develop clothing and footwear designed only for riders.

Today, Catherina is Strategic Brand Manager for MH. Oldest son Bertil joined the family business in 1992 with a vast experience in the running shoe industry. Bertil introduced comfortable insoles and technical details to the MH footwear line never before seen on the equestrian market. Bertil is now acting Managing Director of MH and runs the day-to-day business. Youngest son Rolf joined the family company after completing studies in both the USA and Sweden and has had part of his training in China. Rolf now supervises all footwear development, bringing the latest innovations and technology to an ever-growing and demanding equestrian marketplace. Rolf is the founder of the patented SCS3 System.

Today, 25 determined and ambitious coworkers move Mountain Horse forward toward new goals and objectives. Mountain Horse distributes products in the United States and Canada and to 20 other countries worldwide. Mountain Horse's vision remains focused on performance, fashion, and function. Their passion for their products is matched only by their love for equestrian sports.
